Principal's Message

Greetings to all our Stallions,

I am absolutely honored to be the principal of our wonderful campus.  We are in the midst of a historic season, both educationally and socially.  While there are many challenges that we all face during this time, there are also many opportunities for growth and success.  As a history teacher, I always taught my students that some of our most challenging times in history led to some of our greatest achievements.  I am convinced that our community and our students will pull together during this time to accomplish some of our greatest collective achievements.  I am confident we will endeavor for continued strong academic, artistic and athletic achievement, greater equity and a deeper sense of community.  It is with this mindset and optimism that I choose to start the school year.

While much of what we are experiencing is new, I am committed to anchor our school year in the SJHHS tradition of excellence and remain true to our BRAND.  The BRAND will continue to guide all that we do for our students to:

Balance academics, activities, and social emotional needs
Respect and include those from all backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives
Apply higher-level thinking skills to a broad range of college and career contexts
Nurture relationships with their communities and positively contribute to society as a whole
Dedicate themselves to setting and reaching meaningful goals

In addition to staying true to our BRAND, we will collectively focus upon three major school wide goals.  These goals are to increase the use of targeted data to inform our instruction, develop a clearly articulated plan for student intervention and continue to increase equity and the involvement of all students at our school activities, A-G course offering, AP courses and career pathways.

This school year will present many challenges, but I know that as a community and school we can do challenging things.  Together we will continue our tradition of excellence as we adapt, grow and persevere.  I know we can make it a great year to Ride for The Brand!
